Fallow Ground

These blog posts were all written in the second half of 2011 and the first half of 2012. I am including them here for you to read because I think they work well together as a series.

This period of time was a season of waiting for me. I knew not what for. I've had other similar seasons since. They have always led to something surprising. I meet my wife in November of 2011.

I'm archiving these posts here because I need to remember that season, to remember that fallow periods are part of the way God has organized the creative life of the world.

The Marooded Testudine, Part 2 – Guest Correspondence

I received the following email this morning:

Dear Elijah:

Thank you for your email.  We appreciate hearing from you.

Yes, from time to time, it appears that some of the sea turtles are stuck on the coral, however, they are not.  They like to use the coral to keep themselves underwater when they are resting.  They can be there for significant periods of time. All the sea turtles are doing great.

Thanks again for contacting us.

Sincerely,

Ashlie

I guess I can sleep peacefully now.

Like a turtle trapped in coral.

At the bottom of the sea.
